We've purchased quite a few items for Wiebetech (mostly the SATA to IDE adapters, small hard drive adapters, and most recently one of their 5 hard-drive RT5s). Everything comes the next day like we order it and weve never had a problem with them. Their products are extremely well engineered and work great for what we use them for.
The prices are at times substantially higher than with other vendors of comparable or identical merchandise. However, their support (both technicalĘ and administrative) is the best in the business, and their own in-house developed items are of top notch quality worth the price, which is the reason I am a repeat customer.
They are quick to delivery - their products and professional in every way. They sell great products that are made well and back them up 100%.

If needed, Customer Service is excellent, one of the best Customer Service Departments that I have ever used. I recommend them and their products highly.
The Wiebetech ToughTech 800 enclosure was delivered on time and within 15 minutes I installed a Seagate ATA drive. Next I connected it to my MAC laptop firewire 800 port and it performed well. After installing an Adaptec firewire 800 card in my G4 tower system I plugged the Weibetech in and captured a 20 minute dv clip without one dropped frame. Video editing is the reason I bought the enclosure and is one of the most demanding applications for an external drive. I also have an ADS firewire 400 external enclosure that drops frames and is useless for video editing and will now only be used for back up purposes.

The bottom line is that if you have demanding applications that require lots of throughput then you should consider purchasing the WiebeTech ToughTech 800 enclosure.

My WiebeTech RAID (FW800, 2@IDE) has survived unbelievably rough airport handling back in the days the workers repacked your bags for you after a search: putting the drive, of course, OUTSIDE its bubble pack pressed tight to the skin of the bag. It arrive DENTED, but fully functional, allowing me to do a broadcast quality edit in the jungle, 100 miles from the nearest road, where at least, they had diesel generators to run the stuff.

These are the best built drive cases on the planet. I have tried FIVE other brands, all of which have been disappointments. Only WiebeTech can lay claim to "quiet enough" and "rugged enough."

I cannot tell you how many web searches (Google, Froogle, Yahoo!, Yahoo Shopping, BizRate, ePinions, cNet, eBay, etc...) I did before I found your website. And I have personally used quite a few enclosures (Bytecc, AMS, CoolMax, etc...). I have evaluated many more via manufacturer websites.

Your type of enclosure (USB + eSATA + 500 GB SATA HD support) is frickin' hard to find right now. Especially one that feels as sturdy and has the utility that yours' has. I needed USB for sharing with the masses, but I wanted SATA for the speed. After months of hunting high and low, I luckily found your site via another site that reviewed your SilverSATA drives.

I can honestly say these are the most solid (construction + technology) enclosures I found. As a result of finding these enclosures, I am cascading my 4 existing IDE drives. I purchased my Hitachi 500 GB SATA drive already and am looking at another one in a month or 2. I also just purchased a pair of WD 320 GB SATA drives that should be here any day. I did this not only to upgrade, but to use your enclosures.

You guys need to get the word out about the Silver SATA product line!!! For folks like me with massive digital assets on massive drives (60,000+ high-quality mp3's), this enclosure system is a godsend. I tried a lot of average (crappy) products before I found your enclosures.

The dual-enclosure unit is also in my future. What a kick-ass product/idea for those of us who understand that a single external drive does not a back-up make. Now instead of using Windows Explorer & 2 separate drives to do my weekend backups, I can just pull each drive from its enclosure and lock 'em into the dual unit for the back-up process.

I truly think if you can get your marketing folks going, you will sell a ton of this product line!
Recently ordered a FireWire enclosure from WiebeTech. After placing my order, I received an e-mail notifying me that one of the items was back ordered.

The following day I received an e-mail stating that all the items I ordered were shipped. Upon receipt, I was very impressed with the quality of the product. For about the same price as what Ive payed before, I found my primary purchase (a Tough Tech FW 800 enclosure) was very well built, much nicer connectors and layout than what I usually see at the same price point.

After installing my hard drive in the enclosure, it was pretty clear that the firmware in the ToughTech enclosure worked better than some of my other comparable enclosures. Specifically, the _same_ drive operates more quietly in the ToughTech than the other two enclosures I have. I did direct comparisons by placing the same hard drive in the various enclosures to convince myself of this.

All in all, I am impressed by the quality of the merchandise and service and I will be buying more products from WiebeTech!
I'd like to thank Kathy Wiebe and everyone at WiebeTech for jamming that "SATA Adapter for ComboDocks" out to me overnight. I guess I got in just under the wire! I have a dual G5 2.5gHz that's dead in the water, but I also have an older G4 733; I needed to be up and running due to a nasty deadline this week. As soon as I got the adapter, I yanked the 250GB SATA drive out of the G5, plugged the adapter into the ComboDock, plugged the drive into the adapter, powered it up and then powered on the old G4 while holding down the OPTION key. Within a minute, I was back up and running as if nothing had happened! It's why I can even send this email.

And only 2 days ago, the NoteBook DriveDock - - along with Data Rescue II - - brought back a client's PowerBook hard drive that he had been told was fried, corrupted beyond all hope, kaput, finito. Yes, it took 32 hours, but at the end I got EVERYTHING back except a few dozen orphaned files that were of no consequence.

So two big Wiebe wins in 2 days. You people are Geek Gods - and one of the few companies I can think of where I have supreme confidence in any product you may produce. Thank you again . . .
Friendly and most importantly, SKILLED tech support helped me determine which product best suited my needs. A web search confirmed that their prices were also the most competitive. The product is also well designed and aesthetically pleasing.
Great seller. I received a confirmation email right after I placed my order, and a shipping confirmation the following day w/ a UPS tracking number. I received the package as scheduled a few days later, and the product is great. Very responsive shipping time! Too many other sellers take your money and sit around for days before shipping and dont let you know what happened to your stuff. So far, my Combo GB 2.5 disk enclosure has greatly impressed me. It replaces two successive bargain-priced Coolmax enclosures that initially worked fine but gave me nothing but trouble after the first few months -- refusal to spin up, refusal to mount, inability to run on USB/FW power, and no available independent power supply. In contrast, the Wiebe Tech unit works every time -- its fast, reliable, and attractive, and even offers FW800 operation. I use this drive to hold data necessary to upgrade and repair my clients machines, and it has to work first time, every time. Time will tell if this drive stays this reliable (I desperately hope it will).

I appreciate Wiebe Techs ordering pages that make it clear whether shipping will be postal or commercial at the time we need to provide a shipping address (for people in my area, it will be different depending on carrier). One suggestion for improvement would be for the ordering pages to disclose the shipping cost on the page where the shipper is selected, instead of two pages later when it is more difficult to change.

I have not yet had occasion to use Wiebe Techs customer service, tech support, or warranty service.
Ive purchased more than once from these guys, and theres a reason I keep doing so. They have products Ive never seen anywhere else, like the SATA dock I just bought. The quality is fantastic and the products just work. Ive only had a problem once - which was my fault - and they took care of me anyway. Its hard to find a company this good anywhere - Im sold!

I have been buying products from WiebeTech for myself and for others for about 2 years now. Their products are first rate. Their customer service is friendly, responsive, effective. They send email with a clear receipt and support instructions immediately after sale. Their web site is easy to understand. Everything I have bought from them has worked perfectly and kept on working. I use a TrayDock for backups and have several trays for it. When I wanted more trays recently I was pleased that they continue to support the product. Their products cost a bit more than comparable products elsewhere, but the quality and dependability of WiebeTech products make me more than willing to pay more. They keep up with new technology so I always know that a WiebeTech product will contain the latest or best of whatever category it is in.

The drive arrived securely packaged in perfect condition. Im very pleased with both WiebeTechs service and their product, which is built like a tank (ToughTank?), is very quiet, and runs very cool. Great products. I use both their ComboGB (miniature portable FireWire drive) and their RaidTECH Raid Array. Perhaps slightly more expensive than some others, but in this case you really do get what you pay for. Their products are exellent performers that are well thought out and WiebeTech customer service and support have been second to none in my experience. They are the first people I look to for FireWire storage.

Upon being made quite fearful by all the customer reviews of overheating and melt-downs with the market leading brands of 250gb external hard drives currently being offered I came upon mention in one of these reviews that the Wiebe Tech product was exempt from this criticism.
A visit to their website put me in touch with their technical support who answered all my questions succinctly and helpfully assisted my selection of the right model for my needs. Sales were equally responsive and helpful of my payment by check mode. All in all service was top notch.
As my assessment of this company is one of competence and top quality I was glad to see their model was priced about $100 higher than the market leader, for to me this means $100 more quality and a welcome safeguard against 250gb of lost data.
The product arrived promptly, within four days, to the Philippines, was well packed, complete, partitioned exactly as I had requested, and checked out immediately on both USB and Firewire connections. I have the utmost confidence in it.
I bought a WiebeTech Firewire 800 dual enclosure after the driver board in my LaCie Big Disk failed. I was disappointed in LaCies customer service attitude and decided to move the drives to the WiebeTech enclosure after seeing positive recommendations on a number of pro audio/video forums. The installation instructions were clear and Im up and running again.
I was looking for a reasonably priced 2-drive external Firewire 400/800 case and was having a tough time finding anything that wasn't horribly expensive or USB 1.0 only.

My local Mac Users Group recommended WiebeTech. I called and asked if their DuoGB800 supported serial ATA or only parallel ATA. The customer service rep knew her stuff and I was off the phone in less than a minute.

Ordered the case online and had it in my hands 2 days later. It's a well-designed case. Fairly easy to get into (have to remove screws on the bottom) and pretty easy to get around in once inside. Two 250GB Maxtor drives fit perfectly, and I was up and running in a matter of 30 minutes (once I read the included instructions and realized I had my master/slave jumpers set wrong).

I would buy from WiebeTech again without question. They were on the ball and their product arrived exactly as sold.

WiebeTech makes the best drives with the best configurability I've seen. You get to pick the enclosure type you want (single, dual, quad, whatever) and then the drive to be installed, or install your own.

G5Jam Rocks! I just want to let you guys how happy I am with my G5 Jam. I've installed 2 250GB Western Digital SATA Drives in a striped array. Performance is great! I'm able to capture 10bit Uncompressed SDI without a hitch.
I wanted to tell you that I was pleased at the fit & finish of the enclosure I purchased from you folks earlier this week. I have dealt with the competition, and I feel safe in saying that this enclosure (MicroGB+800) is superior to anything I have yet seen. I had been thinking about getting one of the La Cie portable FireWire drives (Porsche Design), but that's not longer needed. An unexpected bonus was the sleek (and flexible) FW 800 cable, which is an upgrade over the black garden hose variety I once received from someone else. Glad someone is paying attention to the details.
After playing with the dual BayDock 800 for a week now I wanted to give you my impression of the unit.
Absolutely awesome!! Very well designed & construction is tight. I own a lot of different cases, SCSI RAID, FW, & USB; this one is slick.
BTW, no problems with the Maxtor drives or any other drive I have tried so far. I can see that I will need to order more info-trays.

I received the missing cable the other day and just wanted to send a note of thanks for your wonderful service and great products. I will be telling all my compatriots to look at WiebeTech when they might normally consider LaCie. Your drives are every bit as elegant as the Porsche designs with superlative technology.
I just received a FireWire DriveDock, and I want to express my appreciation for the good engineering and general usability of that product. I was able to use it to assess 4 hard drives I had removed from non-functioning Macintosh computers. In 3 out of 4 I was able to get the hard drive up and functioning using the DriveDock and a Powerbook G4, and in the other to confirm that the HD was dead. Previously I had to either try to mount HD's in a computer (i.e., swap out a working HD and swap in the dubious one) or put the HD into an external drive and mount it by SCSI. In both cases the 4 HDs I mentioned failed to mount, probably because of SCSI or computer problems. What this means practically is that I have a good chance of being able to mount up a potentially failed HD and retrieve data before deciding whether to order a new HD or a new computer for my clients. Plus, the size of the DriveDock means I can take it off site if necessary. (I use a bicycle to get from location to location.)
